Kent Life

This week, Sapphire went to Kent Life for a WWII experience. First, we pretended we were evacuees and wrote letters home. We realised how sad we would be to not see them in a long time. Next we imagined we were in the RAF and learned how to use a protractor to find enemy RADAR. This was really fun and we loved hearing about Spitfires and Messerschmitt’s. After that, we made rag rugs: rugs that were made from rags. This was one of our favourite activities (especially the adults). We used a tool called a bodger to pull scraps of fabric through a hessian square. After lunch, we met a warden who taught us about gas masks, sirens and blackouts. Our final activity was joining the home guard where we marched and even got to hold a rifle! By Nathan and Billy
